I figure if a girl wants to be a legend she should go ahead and be one.

Named after the notorious call girls of Deadwood Gulch, Deadwood Dove was created in the fall of ‘19 to supply quality handmade wares to those looking for both eclectic and timeless pieces. Deadwood Gulch, most widely known for its lawlessness, was a town filled with outlaws, miners, frontiersman, gamblers and most notably painted ladies. Whether they were called ladies of the line, women of ill repute, calico queens, or as the cowboys affectionately called them soiled doves; they were the backbone of the rough and feral frontier. To some their sordid lifestyle was a meaningless existence built on low self esteem and no other options, but the honest truth was that they were tougher than most of the Desperado’s that spent time with them. Their beauty, in a class of its own; barely covered by tawdry clothing and angelic faces framed by big hair and red lips. Deadwood Dove embodies their untamed spirit and alluring fashion choices, there is something for every “Soiled Dove” and even the lowbrow outlaws that need them.

I am a lover of all things unique and beautiful, untamed and contrary. My mind hardly ever stills and my hands like to follow suite. I love to create and draw ideas from the many lives I’ve lived as a nomad along side my husband and kids. I’m influenced by the foxfire crafts from old granny women of the Appalachian Mountains, the folk arts of New England and the bead work of the plains women. I live for Dolly Parton’s sequined outfits and the Nudie Suits of Williams, Wagoner, Rogers & Jones. From Ronnie Van Zant to David Allan Coe the outlaw style of leather, fringe, snakeskin and country fill my soul. I want to create pieces people will not only love but will make them feel desirable, authentic and timeless.
